February 13, 2004, Newsletter Issue #133: Skill Swap

Tip of the Week

Setting up a "skill swap" allows neighbors to trade services, save money, and strengthen bonds within the community. It also SAVES YOU MONEY! This is even better than bartering, because in bartering, money exchanges hands, which makes it taxable. With this program, no money exchanges hands, so no taxes are involved! (Which is great if you live in Taxachusetts!). Go to www.timedollar.org to see if there is a "skill swap" in your area, or to start one within your community. The best way to get started to to start small. Get a group of friends together and start a program. Or get a group that you belong to and try it out. Then, if things work out well, you could spread out to the town/city you live in (depending on the size).
