February 14, 2003, Newsletter Issue #81: Terrorism - Be Prepared!!!

Tip of the Week

The City of Boston (Massachusetts) has prepared a great brochure, that is available online. The name of the brochure is Terrorism: A Community Response. Here is where you can view/download this brochure:
http://www.cityofboston.gov/emergencyguide/

There are a lot of references to Boston and Massachusetts, but this information will be helpful to all of you, no matter where you live. So take a look at it, and see what you can do to be prepared! Also, you may want to print this 11-page brochure, so that you have it handy in case of an emergency. More than likely, when you need this information, you`ll be without power - without your computer.

The Centers for Disease Control also have some preparedness information on their site as well. Go to http://www.bt.cdc.gov/planning/index.asp to view/download their information on bioterrorism attacks, with information for individuals, businesses, health care facilities and more.

There are tons of links on this page for further infomation and resources, with links to get you there.

Both of these lists have great information to help prepare you. Bot of these lists have phone numbers and contact information that you may need any different types of emergencies. Most people will dial 911 - but remember, if we all call 911 at the same time, we could tie up the lines and make it impossible for anyone else to get through. So, that is why it`s important that you have these other contact numbers to use.

The Department of Homeland Security has released a Get Ready Now resource. This information is available in downloadable printable form by courtesy link at:
http://www.emergencyemail.org/homelandready

You will need Adobe Acrobat to download this. Also, this make take a while to download (depending on your internet connection speed) but it`s worth the wait!
