December 12, 2003, Newsletter Issue #124: Looking for That Special Gift? - Part 2

Tip of the Week

Here is the second part of the list I started last week:

1) A New Way of Giving: Go to www.charitychecks.us or call 1-800-854-5601 to purchase a tax-deductible certificate as a holiday gift (for $25 or more). These certificates are valid for any of the 800,000 U.S. non-profits working to help others. This way you`re paying for the donation, and the recipient get to choose which charity they want the donation to go to!

2)Defenders of Wildlife, dedicated to protecting animals in the wild, offers a long list - from wolves to whales - for adoption ($25). Your recipient will get an adoption gift certificate and a stuffed replica of the animal chosen. Go to www.wildlifeadoption.org for more details.

3) Choose a $25 turtle form the Sea Turtle Survival League of the Caribbean Conservation Corportaion. Your recipient will get a certificate, sea turtle conservation guide, sticker and magnet - plus the recipient can track the adoptee`s migratory movements on the Internet. Go to www.cccturtle.org to find out more.

4) For a $30 donation to the St. Louis Zoo, your recipient can become a "zoo parent". The recipient will get a personalized certificate, a 5x7 photo and fact sheet on the pet, and an invitation to a picnic. Proceeds go towards the canimal`s care and daily feedings for one year. Choose from lions, giraffes, tigers and more! Go to www.stlzoo.org for more information.
